DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst) Study Scholarships and Research Grants are available for highly qualified graduate students, PhD candidates, and post-doctoral researchers in all disciplines to study and carry out research at universities or research institutes in Germany. These scholarship provide funds for a period of study and/or research in Germany.
UBC is a DAAD Partner University and may nominate a total of two priority candidates for the Study Scholarship and/or Long-Term Research Grant programs. The Tyler Lewis Clean Energy Research Foundation has a research grant available for graduate students worth $10,000. The grant is awarded annually and depending on the calibre and worthiness of applicants and projects, as many as two grants are awarded each year.
This grant is available to graduate students (PhD and Masters) who are Canadian or permanent residents, with research projects in the broad area of clean and alternative energy . UBC Affiliated Fellowships :
The UBC Affiliated Fellowships doctoral competition runs in concert with the university-adjudicated NSERC and SSHRC Canada Graduate Scholarships (CGS) Doctoral competitions. Students who submit an NSERC or SSHRC application to their graduate program are eligible for open Affiliated Fellowships and do not need to submit a separate Affiliated Fellowships application. (To be considered for criteria-based affiliated fellowship(s), students should submit this checklist ( https://www.grad.ubc.ca/sites/default/files/awards/awards_affiliated_criteria-based_2018-08-16.docx ) with their NSERC or SSHRC application to their graduate program.) Those applying only for Vanier CGS or CIHR Doctoral Research Award must submit a separate and complete Affiliated Fellowships application in order to be considered.

Applicants applying through UBC will either be:
currently registered at (or were registered at during the year of application), or are on an approved leave of absence from, a degree program at UBC
not currently registered at UBC; or are registered, but not in a degree program; and have completed all of the requirements for a degree program from UBC since 1 January 2018

The K. Patricia Cross Future Leaders Award recognizes graduate students who show exemplary promise as future leaders of higher education, who demonstrate a commitment to developing academic and civic responsibility in themselves and others, and whose work reflects a strong emphasis on teaching and learning. The award provides financial support for recipients to attend the Association of American Colleges and Universities Annual Meeting, which will be January 23-26, 2019, in Atlanta, Georgia. All award recipients are required to attend the conference.

Roland Genshorek , Bernhard Nimmervoll and Erik Wilson ? the UBC Department of Mechanical Engineering (MECH) Student Machine Shop team ? have collectively received a President?s Staff Award for ?enhancing the UBC experience.?
In making the selection, UBC President Santa Ono and an advisory committee considered such factors as the extent to which nominees have provided a consistently high level of customer service, created innovative programs and opportunities, anticipated client needs and potential problems, and served as positive role models.
?It is obvious to me that Benny, Erik and Roland care deeply about students, the Department and the university as a whole,? said Sheldon Green, a UBC mechanical engineering professor and former head of MECH. ?Their commitment to enhancing the UBC experience has transformed practical machining education in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.”

The UBC Killam Postdoctoral Research Fellowships are available for most fields of research. The number of awards offered presently varies between three and five per year.
Value : an annual stipend of $50,000 for a maximum of two years plus a travel and research allowance of $4,000 over two years.
