Autos und Flugzeuge müssen abspecken?etwa indem möglichst viele Bauteile aus kohlenstofffaserverstärktem Kunststoff CFK gefertigt werden. Bisher wurden diese Bauteile per Hand hergestellt. Nun gibt es automatisierte Fertigungsverfahren, die sich auch für Großserien im Automobilbau eignen.

Wasser ist eine wertvolle Ressource. Neue Technologien erleichtern den verantwortungsvollen Umgang mit Trinkwasser, reinigen Abwasser effektiv und ermöglichen es sogar, Biogas und Dünger zu gewinnen. Wie das geht, zeigen Fraunhofer-Forscher auf der Hannover Messe ( 23.- 27. April) im Haus der Nachhaltigkeit (Halle 2).

Kugelschreiber, PC-Tastaturen, Computer-Mäuse, Besteck und sogar Beschichtungen für Getränkekartons lassen sich auch aus nachwachsenden Rohstoffen fertigen. Auf der Hannover Messe (23. bis 27. April) stellen Fraunhofer-Forscher in Halle 2, Stand 22 vor, wie man Biokunststoffe einsetzen kann. Erste Produkte sind bereits auf dem Markt.

This dance class will be open to all levels and will focus exclusively on Afro Haitian dance forms. it will be taught with a live percussionist and will be a rigorous, high energy dance class. Be prepared to sweat and celebrate the joy of movement!

Berkeley Dance Project 2012: Beneath the Flesh , the final production in UC Berkeley?s Department of Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies Main Stage season, opens April 20 in Zellerbach Playhouse. The production features three choreographic premieres by Lisa Wymore, Amara Tabor Smith, and Stephanie Sherman, each exploring the theme of transformation within community; how we change, grow, shift and ultimately find a place of knowing.
The dead are born from a dream of the living , was inspired by Professor Lisa Wymore ?s hope to create a work informed by Jerzy Growtowski?s method of expressionist theater making, ?which is dependent on bringing forth a powerful experience between the actor and the audience,? says Wymore. On March 22, thirty TDPS students gathered in Durham Studio Theater for Steps to Success , a conversation with three TDPS alums and one current TDPS graduate student. The afternoon, organized by undergraduate student representatives, began with a social hour, followed by a moderated discussion with a group of panelists, including Dancer, Choreographer & Arts Administrator Todd Eckert, Lighting Designer Lucas Krech, Comedian & Writer Zahra Noorbakhsh, and Dance Critic and TDPS PhD Candidate Kate Mattingly.
Says Megan Lowe, a Senior Dance & Performance Studies Rep who will graduate in May, ?As a dance and theater student, sometimes it is a bit daunting to think about what you are going to do in the real world. We found a group of artists who were already established in the Bay Area, and gave students the opportunity to find out how TDPS has prepared them for the working arts world.?

Lärmpegel, Feinstaubbelastung, Verkehrsaufkommen?diese Daten sind für Stadtplaner und für Bürger interessant. Eine dreidimensionale Darstellung soll den Umgang damit künftig vereinfachen: Während der Nutzer sich virtuell durch seine Stadt bewegt, werden die entsprechenden Daten als grüne, gelbe oder rote Punkte angezeigt.

Dünne Bauteile aus Keramik herzustellen, war bislang aufwändig und teuer. Denn viele verziehen sich während der Bearbeitung und müssen als Ausschuss aussortiert werden. Forscher bombardieren die Oberflächen verzogener Bauteile nun mit kleinen Kugeln und bringen sie so wieder in Form.

Doch viele Anwendungen aus der Medizin-, Umwelt- und Prüftechnik wie Implantate und Sensoren lassen sich aufgrund der begrenzten Lebensdauer von Batterien nicht mit solchen betreiben. Forscher haben jetzt ein Verfahren entwickelt, das diese Systeme drahtlos mit Energie versorgt.
