From 1964-68, Famed photographer Ansel Adams spent time at the University of California on a groundbreaking photographic project commissioned by UC President Clark Kerr. At its core the project, entitled Fiat Lux (Let There Be Light, the University of California motto) asked Adams to answer the question ?How can we imagine our future?? Over the course of the project, Adams took thousands of photos of the entire UC system, culminating in a published book written by Nancy Newhall in 1967, which was revisited in a full-year, campuswide multimedia exploration of Adams? work this year called On the Same Page .
Berkeley Dance Project 2013: Aperture , the final production in UC Berkeley?s Department of Theater, Dance, and Performance Studies Main Stage season, responds to and continues Adams? work as part of the On the Same Page initiative, featuring four choreographic premieres and an exhibition of student artistic work , each bringing new perspectives and framings of contemp ...

Die Produktion der Zukunft ist energie- und ressourceneffizient in einer weitgehend emissionsneutralen Fabrik unter ergonomischer Einbindung des Menschen in die Produktionsabläufe. Erste Ansätze für die E3-Fabrik zeigen Fraunhofer-Forscher vom 8. bis 12. April auf der Hannover Messe in Halle 17, Stand F14.

Ungenutzte Energie ernten mit flächiger Thermoelektrik

Ein großer Anteil der von uns produzierten Energie verpufft ungenutztüber Abwärme in der Umgebung. Winzige thermoelektrische Generatoren können dieses Potential heben. Der Strom wird dabeiüber Temperaturunterschiede gewonnen. Doch bisher ist deren Produktion umständlich und teuer. Gleichzeitig fehlen geeignete Materialien. Auf der Hannover Messe zeigen Forscher jetzt ein neues Herstellungsverfahren, mit dem diese Generatoren als großflächige, flexible Bauteile günstig aus nichttoxischen Kunststoffen hergestellt werden können (Halle 3, Stand D25).

Mit der»4Save«-Toolbox von Fraunhofer kommt es zu diesen Gefahren erst gar nicht. Auf der Hannover Messe vom 8. bis zum 12. April 2013 zeigen Forscher die neueste Version des Sicherheitssystems mit der visuellenÜberwachung»Eye4Save«.

Kompaktes Radar mit Durchblick

Durch Holz, Pappe oder Kunststoff schauen?das gelingt dem menschlichen Auge nicht. Was uns verborgen bleibt, macht ein kompaktes, modular aufgebautes Radar sichtbar: Der Millimeterwellensensor durchdringt nicht transparente Stoffe. Er sendet im Hochfrequenzbereich zwischen 75 und 110 GHz und eignet sich für unterschiedlichste Anwendungsbereiche?von der Flugsicherheitüber die Logistik und Industriesensorik bis hin zur Medizintechnik. Einen Prototyp des Radars präsentieren Fraunhofer-Forscher vom 8. bis 12. April auf der Hannover Messe in Halle 2, Stand D18.
