Looking for someone with a background in stage management to be a producer of a small-scale theatrical event that is being filmed for a documentary in the East Bay during the last week of April and the first week of May. Responsibilities include managing the logistics of set creation, overseeing company move-in and move-out of the venue, and talent management for both rehearsals and filming.

2014 ASUC Perspectives Festival

The 2014 ASUC Perspectives Festival which will be held in Anna Head from April 18-20 is an annual showcase celebrating the diversity and multiculturalism of Cal through the talents of its students. The theme this year is “The Space Between Our Footsteps,” which focuses on the experiences – the achievements and the struggles – every student carries with them and how they add to perspectives of fellow students and the world around us.
A few more spots have opened in the line up. Also, the team is looking for enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers who are willing to lend their expertise in theater and performing arts productions. Responsibilities would include advising on technical aspects such as stage management, as well as the overall creative vision.

1. Political Playwriting with Motti Lerner
Award-winning Israeli playwright, Motti Lerner will discuss some of the principles of political playwriting in a three days advanced workshop. Lerner will share his signature approach to creating three-dimensional dramatic characters that bring to life some of the most difficult political topics of our time such as, religious fundamentalism, nationalism, and war. 2. ReOrient Festival Submission deadline Extended to May 1, 2014
ReOrient 2015 is just a year away but they will select the festival line up over the summer. Plays 10-30 minutes by playwrights of Middle Eastern background on any topic, and playwrights of any cultural background about the Middle East will be considered. Guidelines can be found here .

Playwrights Foundation Summer Internship Opportunities

The Bay Area Playwrights Festival is the capstone of Playwrights Foundation and brings together playwrights, directors, technicians, actors and theater professionals from across the nation, as they work to develop the next generation of voices in American theater. While they are an arts based organization, they offer administrative and marketing-based positions as well.
Interns will gain understanding of the work needed to produce a festival through hands on experience in the office, rehearsal room, and on site experience over the two weeks of the festival. While working on the festival, the opportunity to meet and connect with theater professionals presents itself in a wide array of situations, making this an opportunity of a lifetime.
More information about the internships can be found on the Playwrights Foundation website . Applications will be reviewed starting March 15, and offers will be made by the middle of April.

Fraunhofer-Experten haben ihre Empfehlungen für eine starke IT-Nation Deutschland in einem Positionspapier zusammengefasst. Prof. Dr. Reimund Neugebauer, Präsident der Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft,überreichte es auf der CeBIT an Prof. Dr. Johanna Wanka, Bundesministerin für Bildung und Forschung, und Dr. Thomas de Maizière, Bundesminister des Innern.
