Ethanolkamine werden immer beliebter. Dabei sind sie nicht nur brandgefährlich?in der Vergangenheit ist es wiederholt zu schweren Unfällen mit den Deko-Feuerstellen gekommen. Die Geräte verunreinigen auch die Luft in Räumen. Dies belegt eine neue Fraunhofer-Studie. Ebenfalls auf dem Prüfstand sind Holzkaminöfen.

Sieben Fraunhofer-Institute stellen vom 9. bis 12. September auf der Messe SMM in Hamburg ihre neuen Entwicklungen in Sachen Schifffahrt vor. Am Stand 411 in Halle B6 ist unter anderem ein 3D-Konfigurator zu sehen, der es erlaubt, Kreuzfahrtschiffe und Yachten schon vor dem eigentlichen Baubeginn in Echtzeit bis ins Detail zu erleben. Die Forscher zeigen zudem eine neue Software für das Crew-Management und ein Schiffs- und Logistiksystem, das Inlandwasserwegeökonomischer nutzbar macht.

In 1971, UC Irvine graduate Chris Burden was shot in the arm with a gun in front of a small audience; this act has become a classic in the history of performance art. How might we understand this gesture of physical violence as art? And what does it mean to “perform” art rather than to make a physical object (such as a painting or sculpture)? This lecture course provides an overview of such acts in the 20th century, starting with experimental Futurist theater and ending with contemporary works that are performed both in and out of the art institution. Among other topics, we will examine the ethics of audience participation, the uncertain status of documentation, the critical use of the body by feminist and queer artists, and the political possibilities of liveness. Künftig kommen Filme, Sportübertragungen und Konzerte mit einer Auflösung von 4K ins Fernsehen. Ultra HD hat viermal so viele Pixel wie bislang bei Full HDüblich. Sogar Live-Sendungen können im digitalen Kinostandard 4K ausgestrahlt werden. Möglich macht das der Videokompressions-Standard HEVC. Auf der International Broadcasting Convention IBC (12.9. - 16.9.2014) in Amsterdam stellen Fraunhofer-Forscher Lösungen für das hocheffiziente Codieren und Decodieren von Videos mit HEVC vor in Halle 8, Stand B80.

Die Ministerpräsidenten der Länder Sachsen Stanislaw Tillich und Sachsen-Anhalt Dr. Reiner Haseloff sagten heute ihre Unterstützung für Kooperationsvorhaben der Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft mit Wissenschaft und Wirtschaft in der Region Leipzig und Halle zu. Zwei vorgestellte Initiativen sollen den Standort stärken: mit dem Nationalen Leistungszentrum»Chemie und Biosystemtechnik«sowie der Fachgruppe»Zell-funktionale Bildanalyse«der Hochschule für Technik, Wirtschaft und Kultur HTWK Leipzig und dem Fraunhofer-Institut für Zelltherapie und Immunologie IZI.
