Allison M. Okamura, Ph.D. received the B.S. degree from the University of California at Berkeley, Berkeley, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees from Stanford University in 1994, 1996, and 2000, respectively, all in mechanical engineering. She is currently an associate professor of mechanical engineering and a thrust leader of the NSF Engineering Research Center for Computer-Integrated Surgical Systems and Technology at The Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, MD. She received the 2004 National Science Foundation CAREER Award, the 2005 IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Early Academic Career Award, and the 2003 JHU Diversity Recognition Award for her work in mentoring and outreach. Her research interests include haptic display of virtual environments, teleoperation, and medical robotics. She is a member of IEEE, ASME, and SWE. |
