Prof. Breazeal is an Associate Professor of Media Arts and Sciences at the MIT Media Lab where she directs the Robotic Life Group. Her research focuses on the scientific pursuit and technological innovation necessary to create socio-emotionally intelligent machines that understand and engage people in social and affective terms. With respect to robotics applications, her work focuses on the development of socially assistive robots that establish and maintain a long-term relationship with people to provide various forms of social support in service of education or health related goals. Her first book, Designing Sociable Robots, is published by The MIT Press (2002). She received her B.S. (1989) in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California at Santa Barbara. She received her S.M (1993) and Sc.D. (2000) in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. |
