The Centre for Autonomous Systems (CAS) is a research centre at the Kungliga Tekniska Högskolan in Stockholm. The centre does research in (semi-) autonomous systems including mobile robot systems for manufacturing and domestic applications. The centre was inaugurated 1. August 1996.

Description
The Microscale Life Sciences Center is a National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) Center of Excellence in Genomic Science (CEGS). It resides at the University of Washington (UW) and includes investigators from UW and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (FHCRC) in Seattle. The MLSC is one of the first of three CEGS ever funded by the NIH NHGRI in the nation.
The MLSC or "life-on-a-chip" involves 10 investigators from the UW Departments of Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology, Laboratory Medicine, and the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. The Center started in August 2001, is funded for 5 years at $15 million, and may be renewed for another 5 years.

Center for Robotics and Embedded Systems (CRES) was established in fall 2002. It is an interdisciplinary organized research unit (ORU) in the USC Viterbi School of Engineering that focuses on the science and technology of effective, robust, and scalable robotic systems, with broad and far-reaching applications. CRES facilitates interdisciplinary interactions and collaboration through its robotics faculty and its large team of interdisciplinary affiliates and serves as a linch pin for strategic research areas at USC. CRES projects span the areas of service, humanoid, distributed, reconfigurable, space, and nano robotics and impact a broad spectrum of applications, including assistance, training and rehabilitation, education, environmental monitoring and cleanup, emergency response, homeland security, and entertainment. The Center provides a tight-knit foundation for collaboration and opportunities for education and outreach.
